In May 2026, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the HICP was 2.1 per cent, down from 2.5 per cent in April 2026.
The 12-month moving average rate for May 2026 stood at 2.4 per cent.
The largest upward contribution to the overall annual inflation was measured in the Restaurants and accommodation services Index (+0.55 percentage points), while the largest downward contribution was recorded in the Clothing and footwear Index (-0.17 percentage points).
